I've been there. Sweaty palms, stomach rolling, heat coming from your body like you just got out of a tanning bed. My nerves were keeping me from showing up as my best self -- and giving the performance I knew I was capable of. As a former professional stage performer, this used to drive me crazy. I knew all my lyrics, had the choreography down-pat, and I knew when I needed to be on stage...but my nervous system had other plans.
It wasn't until I had to give a performance that felt like I was literally singing to save my life, that I realized what I needed to be fully in my body and project my voice to the back of the theatre. That sounds dramatic, but it all felt real in my body. This video shines a glimmer of light on the methods I used to find the confidence I needed to stand up for myself. It's a wonderful place to start - and it's my hope these exercises will work for you both on-camera and irl.
